| _United Nations Voting on Chinese Representation_ is an analysis of the voting behavior of UN members in dealing with the issue of Chinese representation from 1950 to 1971. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the important variables in determining the outcomes of the UN voting coalitions on this Cold War issue. This research is composed of two parts. The first part is a historical study in terms of qualitative factors, particularly U.S. policy toward China. The second part consists of multiple regression analyses based on quantifiable data. The study further explores the development of the UN toward universality, with the seating of the Chinese Communist Government in the Organization being the most significant incident involved in that movement. ? |
